The autofill feature of Apple’s Safari browser appears to be suffering from a date handling error that occasionally leads it to supply an incorrect credit card expiration date when filling out forms. The supposed issue has been a sore spot for Apple customers dating back at least to 2017, when the author of an Apple Community forum post complained about changes to the month field in the Autofill credit card expiration date when moving between time zones. "I’ve noticed for the last year or so, whenever I travel from Eastern time zone (my home) to Central time zone or even Pacific time zone that my credit card expiration date month changes in Safari Autofill," the Safari user wrote. Another post in 2021 raised similar concerns. "I don’t know how to reproduce this," the author wrote. Three years later, another person posting to Apple’s Community forum reported the same issue. "For a few years now every time I use Autofill on my computer my credit cards (ALL of them) always have their expiration dates change one month earlier," the 2024 post says. "I thought it was just a glitch on my computer but I bought a new computer and didn’t transfer anything from my old one and it is still doing it." An unrelated Autofill bug report from 2024 suggests that if there is an issue, it resides in Apple-owned Safari code rather than Safari’s open source WebKit engine…
